Let me introduce myself...
I'm Zack,
To me, photography is about exploring the limitless beauty of reality, and using a camera as a means of documenting the overwhelming beauty that I encounter. I’m interested in exploring the magnitude and interconnectedness of everything around me, as well as breaking down the boundaries between the dualities we use to make sense of it all. It is important for me to understand that beauty is one of these dualities which means it is completely subjective, what I see may not appeal to anyone but myself and that is ok.
Some themes I enjoy exploring with my art include; the complexity of light, plant life and how it has evolved, entropy and how things break down, the infinitude of the universe, and finding perfection in imperfection. It is my hope that the images I create evoke a calm, meditative, or dream-like quality that leaves you with a sense of wonder.
I am inspired when I lose myself in exploration, when I fall into a state of flow and no longer feel in control of the images I'm taking. Almost as if I am an external observer of something larger and infinitely more intelligent.
My workflow consists of trying to see new things, and making an effort to have a camera on hand at all times. Beauty is fleeting, if I see something, I photograph it with whatever I have. Once a visual moment has passed it is be gone forever, only surviving as an image. The cameras I use include a Nikon D800, a Fujifilm X100F, and film cameras including a Pentax MX and a Polaroid SX-70.
I also offer custom prints in a variety of other mounting options including, framed canvas, acrylic prints, metal prints, fine art paper prints, and large format prints. If you are interested in one of these don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
