This is a Microsorum Grossum fern from Hawaii. I had never seen anything like it. I loved the spotted leaves, which I believe are where the spores are released from the plant to reproduce. I think one of the most amazing things about the plant life in Hawaii is the level at which each plant thrives, without any external care or attention. At home, when I grow plants like these, it’s difficult to give them the optimal conditions they require to grow properly. Yet the plants in Hawaii first of all arrived there somehow, and evolved into such masterpieces. Hawaii is like a tiny little planet surrounded by an incredible amount of ocean with nothing for thousands of miles. It’s amazing how something so secluded can have such a wide variety of plant life, in such abundance.

Printing Process: All prints are now made using a C-Type printing process for the highest possible photographic print quality. C-Type printing offers a more subtle tone than other printing methods, which provides for smoother gradients in shadows and skin tones. C-type prints typically last up to 100 years and are good for archival purposes. The paper used is a matte Fuji paper which can be wiped clean although we do not recommend it.
